Setting Up a Fundamentals Nonprofit Demo Company

This guide will walk you through the steps necessary to create a new company in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business

Central (BC) for the purposes of demonstrating Fundamentals, the true nonprofit and governmental accounting solution

from Tangicloud Technologies.

All required content may be found in a Sharepoint folder with the following files.

Once complete, the new company will be set up, include posted data, and be immediately ready for use.

1.  Provision a new Sandbox without any data. Send the Azure Ad Tenant ID to support@tangicloud.com to receive a demonstration license for your company.
2. Create a New Company with No Data
3. Install the Tangicloud Fundamentals App from AppSource.
4. Enter the license key on the Business Manager role center under Fundamentals Utilities.
5. Run the Fix Profiles utility from the same action group. Fundamentals provides a vertical user interface and will often replace base BC pages and reports. Using base Microsoft Roles can lead to undesired results.
6. Upload and deploy the "Data Management" extension to the environment that needs to import data.
   1. Administration > Extension Management > Manage > Upload Extension
   2. Select .app file
   3. Accept (switch)
   4. Deploy (button)
7. Open the New Company created previously (the company to which we need to import data).
   
   PLEASE do not accidentally apply these packages in a working company. The results will not be pleasant.
8. Import all 6 config packages:

a. PackageTC Demo Setup.rapidstart – system type tables like setups, number series, etc.

b. PackageTC Demo Master.rapidstart – records like G/L Account, Vendor, Dimensions, etc.

c. PackageTC Posted Tables.rapidstart – transactional data from ledgers and posted documents

d. PackageTC Demo Budgets.rapidstart – GL budgets, commitments and encumbrances

e. PackageTC DEMO ADDITIONAL.rapidstart

f. PackageTC DEMO TRANSACTIONS.rapidstart

    Apply the packages in the following order:

a. PackageTC DEMO SETUP.rapidstart

b. PackageTC DEMO MASTER.rapidstart

c. PackageTC POSTED TABLES.rapidstart

d. PackageTC DEMO BUDGETS.rapidstart

e. PackageTC DEMO ADDITIONAL.rapidstart

f. PackageTC DEMO TRANSACTIONS.rapidstart

Steps to follow to import the Configuration Packages: 

>> Create a new company where the user wishes to import the demo data. Let’s say Fundamentals Demo 1 is the 

name of our demo company for the demo data. 

>> Open Business Central, click on the search icon & type “Configuration Packages”. Click on the related link.

>> Configuration packages list page will open. 

>> Click on Process >> Import Package. 

>> Drop a file to upload. 

Note: one can import/upload one package at a time.

>> Package will start importing. 

>> You will see the notification indicating that the package has been imported, you need to apply it.

>> Click on the Apply Package. 

OR

>> Select the imported package >> Click on Package >> Validate Package. 

Validate Package will determine if you have introduced errors, such as not including tables that the configuration 

relies on. 

>> Once the package is validated, we are good to apply the package. 

>> Click on the Apply Package.

>> Follow the sequence as mentioned below:

To refresh the Business Rule follow the below-mentioned steps: 

>> Change the role to Business Manager. Click on the Settings icon >> Click on My settings. 

>> Click on the three dots. 

>> Choose the Business Manager role from the list and click on the OK button. Click on the OK button again.

>> The page will reload, click on the Fundamentals Utilities. To refresh the Business rules, click on the Refresh 

Business Rules. 

Please note that, because of sandbox environments, you will need to clean up a few tables where they reference

Tangicloud usernames. Also, a few tables are out of sequence and errors like a missing bank account in SETUP will

resolve with the MASTER package.

10. Search for and run the "Import Transactions From Staging" report. This will move posted documents and ledger

data from the “Posted Tables” package to the Business Central protected ledger and document tables.

11. Apply the TC Demo Budgets.rapidstart package

12. When satisfied with the data, Uninstall the Data Management App using the option to delete data.

13. Change all user profiles to use the Tangicloud Full Accounting profile

14. Install additional Tangicloud Apps published in the Demo App folder as desired
